So yesterday, I could not help myself and went to watch for Nitesh Tiwary’s “Dangal” at the near by multiplex. To my surprise, the wrestling drama was still running to packed house and audience were loving each and every moment of it, the way I saw them enjoying on its first day. “Dangal” is indeed a new type of cinema which had created its benchmark.
“Dangal” entered the 350 crore club on Tuesday with staggering figure of Rs 353.68 crores and a eye-popping gross of Rs 491.21 crores. The wrestling drama which is based on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat who helped his daughters, Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat win gold at Common Wealth Games, continued to win hearts at the overseas box office by crossing $27.06 million (Rs 184.96 crores). With this figure, “Dangal” has become the fourth highest overseas grosser beating “Dilwale” which minted (25.6 million USD).
“Dangal” has crossed it budget of Rs 75 crores (Production cost – Rs 60 + Printing & Advertising – Rs 15 crores).
