Saturday Box Office Report : “Sultan” Beats “Housefull 3” and “Airlift” To Become The Highest Grosser Of 2016 !!!

I heard it last week (probably a tweet from a Bollywood celebrity), the EID celebration is incomplete without a Salman Khan’s film. The “King Of Box office” has created niche profile of his films impressing audience and critics alike.

Friday Box Office Report : “Sultan” Beats “FAN” To Become The Third Highest Grosser Of 2016 !!!

To start with, “Dabangg” was his first mega-blockbuster in EID followed by successes of films like “Ek Tha Tiger”, “Kick” and “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. With “Sultan”, Salman Khan has broken his own record for Highest opening day grossing EID film. Another feat which “Sultan” achieved yesterday was the record breaking collections to become the highest opening grossing film of 2016 in just 4 days beating “Airlift”(Rs 127.8 crores) and “Housefull 3″(Rs 107.70 crores) both starring Akshay Kumar. The critically acclaimed sports drama has earned an eye-popping Rs 37+ crores (final numbers are awaited) on Saturday summing up the grand total to Rs 142+ crores. “Sultan” has already beaten the expectations from the trade who were estimating the film to collect Rs 150 crores in first 5 days. The next target aimed by “Sultan” is Rs 180 crores depending on the collections it will earn today.

As of now, we can say that Salman Khan is indeed a superstar whose name itself is good enough to draw the crowd to the theaters. However, with “Sultan”, Salman Khan has proved that he can act as well since the word-of-mouth is positive from the paying audience.
