Finally, some good news for the makers of “Udta Punjab” after the ugly fight with CBFC and the film leaked online. “Udta Punjab” has started on flying note across 2100 in India and 300 screens in Overseas.
Thanks to the negative publicity which has turned into a positive note for the film at the box office as the trade never expected the film to do well due to the dark theme. “Udta Punjab” have taken bumper in Punjab, Delhi/NCR, Mumbai and Bangalore. In fact early reports suggest that the collections might even cross Shah Rukh Khan’s “FAN”.
Udta Punjab has met with a good start the UAE market despite its 18+ classification (Adults only rating) collecting AED 325,000 [Rs. 59.33 lacs] on 51 sites. We have to wait for the final figures tomorrow. The budget is Rs 48 Crores (Production Cost: 34 Crores + Prints & Advertising Cost 14 Crores).
